Senator Dave Syverson

Dave Syverson is the State Senator from the 34th District, where he has served since 1993. He is currently the Republican spokesman for the Senate Appropriation I Committee.

Senator Syverson also serves as a member of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee, member of the Senate Appropriations II Committee, and Illinois Economic and Fiscal Commission.

Senator Syverson has sponsored bills involving historic welfare reform and children’s health insurance programs. He has also sponsored legislation on property tax caps.

Senator Syverson is also recognized as a proponent for improving the business environment of Illinois, advocating insurance and Medicaid reforms, and supporting vocational education and senior health issues.

Locally, he is a member of the Rockford and Belvidere Chambers of Commerce, the National Federation of Independent Business, and the Board of Governors for Lutheran Social Services. In addition, he is a partner in Market Insurance Group, Inc. of Rockford.

Senator Syverson is a partner in Market Insurance Group, Inc. in Rockford. He is a graduate of Guilford High School and Rock Valley College.

He resides in Rockford with wife, Shirley and their two children.
