LEGISLATIVE ACCOMPLISHMENTS Sen. Millner’s top priorities in the General Assembly are 1.) Helping the local economy and protecting jobs, 2.) Defending children and families from crime, and 3.) Ensuring students have access to the best quality education possible. Recently, he has sponsored and passed legislation that cracks down on sex offenders, keeps guns out of the hands of violent criminals, and protects consumers from identity thieves.

BACKGROUND Elmhurst Police Department, March 1972 to January 2003; Sen. Millner rose through the ranks from patrolman to Chief; Served as Chief of Police for 16 years.
Married to wife- Debbie, father of two children.

CIVIC ACTIVITIES AND INVOLVEMENT Sen. Millner has served in the leadership of numerous organizations. He was the past president of the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police, past Chairman of the Illinois Attorney General’s Violence to Children Task Force, past president of the Law Enforcement Foundation of Illinois, past president of the DuPage County Chiefs of Police Association, and past founding chairman of the DuPage County Advisory Commission on Gangs.
He also served as a member of the Voices for Illinois Children’s Committee, Governor’s Commission on Discrimination and Hate Crimes, the Council of State Governments, Midwestern Legislative Conference, and the Violent Crimes Advisory Committee.

EDUCATION Earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Justice at Lewis University in Romeoville, IL and a Master of Arts Degree in Law Enforcement Administration at Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL. Sen. Millner also received an Associate of Science Degree at Triton College in River Grove, IL.

AWARDS The senator has received many awards during his career, including the “Voices for Illinois Children: Certificate of Recognition” for his work as a community leader and advocate for Illinois children, the “Human Dignity Award” from the Illinois Coalition Against Domestic Violence, the “Chief of the Year Award” from the Illinois State Crime Commission, and the “Thrasher Award: Most Effective American City Police Chief” for 1997-98.
