Senator Dan Cronin

Dan Cronin burst onto the political scene in 1991 as a young state representative fighting for tax relief and smaller, smarter government.

In 1993, he moved to the Senate, where he continued his fight for taxpayers as he pushed legislation to extend property tax caps to Cook County homeowners.

Senator Cronin's priorities have always been those of the people he represents -- property tax relief, fair funding for education, greater accountability for school performance, and stronger laws to protect citizens from crime.

Senator Cronin worked to give reformers the legislative support they needed to get the Chicago Public Schools back on track for the children of the state's largest city.

He led the way for legislation designed to bring peace of mind to adoptive parents after the plight of "Baby Richard" came to public attention.

Cronin currently serves as Republican spokesman for the Senate Education Committee and a member of the State Government and Labor & Commerce committees. He also serves on the oversight panel of the Legislative Reference Bureau.

Senator Cronin grew up in Elmhurst. He graduated from Immaculate Conception Grade School, Fenwick High School, Northwestern University, and Loyola University Law School.

Active in community organizations, Senator Cronin serves on the Board of Directors for the Elmhurst YMCA, Fenwick High School, the Joseph Academy, and the Community Bank of Elmhurst. He is also a partner in the law firm of Power & Cronin, Ltd. of Oakbrook Terrace.

Senator Cronin lives in Elmhurst with is wife Juliann, three daughters and one son. They are members of Immaculate Conception Parish.
